just seen this from the Northampton Telegraph

Tommy Wright has confirmed that all the money owed to the Corby Town players has now been paid.

Steelmen joint-manager Andrew Wilson revealed after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at AFC Totton that chairman Kevin Ingram had promised the shortfall in wages would be met by Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

And that is now the case after fellow joint-boss Wright confirmed the news this afternoon.

The Steelmen are due to be back in Calor League Premier Division action against Totton again tomorrow (Wednesday) night at Steel Park.

And they look set to be boosted by the returns of Gareth Jelleyman and Chris Carruthers, who had previously chosen not to feature until the money they were owed was paid.

Corby’s off-field issues have dominated the headlines in recent weeks with the club at loggerheads with Corby Borough Council over money Ingram insists they are owed as well as the need for a sports pavilion and conference facilities to be built at Steel Park.

Those problems had filtered through to the playing squad as their hopes of reaching the play-offs were all-but ended while Paul Malone chose to leave over the unpaid wages. Aman Verma and Claudiu Hoban also departed for Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth respectively.

Wright said: “It is a massive weight off our shoulders.

“I would like to think that, moving forward, we will not have this issue to deal with.

“There are five or six weeks left in the season and it looks like we will get over the line, which is a massive relief.

“I spoke with Gareth and Chris yesterday and they said that if the money arrived today or, at the latest, tomorrow morning then they would play against Totton tomorrow night.

“It should mean we have a stronger squad to choose from, which is great news.

“And it should make tomorrow’s game a lot more interesting.

“We were disappointed with the result at the weekend, even with the team we had out.

“Totton will feel confident because they have been on a good run and they have just beaten us. But hopefully, what they have in front of them tomorrow, will surprise them a little bit.”
